Will B. Gunn brings us this tale of an officer with a mind controlling badge in Charming Shield: Officer Candy, which he uses to make use of his partners. Not exactly freeuse, since it involves mind control, but close enough to be enjoyable.

“Fresh out of the police academy, Candice is ready to begin her career as a gallant custodian of the law, and stalwart defender to all law-abiding citizens.
Her new partner and superior officer, lieutenant Jack Masters, has something slightly different in mind, however.
During her orientation, he showed her his shield, a golden badge that differentiates superior policemen from new meat. His purpose being to remind her of the strict chain in command, and her place on it.
Jack’s shield was quite unique. Hailing form a long line of mystics and experts of the occult, Jack took a magical charm he found in his grandfather’s attic, and sculpted it to look just like a police shield.
One look into the shiny talisman, and officer Candice (or Candy, as he liked to call her) was happy and willing to accept any suggestions her new superior had for her.
Serving him became her one and only duty, obeying his orders the only honor she knew. Being his, and his alone, became her only source of pride.
She couldn’t wait to begin her new career, as her superior’s bubble-headed squeeze, and compliant love-doll.”

It’s a short story of only about 5,900 words, but looks worth a look.
