Genetically Modified Pets (test post)

One of the unexpected results of wide-spread CRISPR technology was the homebrew creation of animals with human-level intelligence and humanoid appearances.

Some were more human on the outside than the inside, others were the opposite.

Shannon was His pet. She had the furless body of a human girl in her late teens or early twenties, floppy brown ears, and a puffy tail that wagged whenever he was near.

“Do you want to go for a walk?” he asked.

“Yes! Yes, Master! Walk! Walk!” she shouted, hopping up and nearly toppling him over.

“Okay. Okay. Calm down. Good girl.”

He put the choker chain on her, which she didn’t like much, but she understood that He knew best, and gave a little tug on her leash to pull her back from the door so he could step out first.

“Maybe we’ll see Kathryn and her pup today. You like Roscoe right? If Kathy and I get together, maybe Roscoe and you can have puppies.”

Master talked about a lot of things that Shannon didn’t understand, but she did like playing with Roscoe in the park.

Since the Bigfoot story is doing better than I thought, I figured I’d give a slightly related idea a shot in a short post. Basically, a world in which pets have been genetically modified until they are nearly people. Kind of like a world of cat-girls, dog-girls, etc. Possibly, also/or (for potential future posts) genetic modification in the other direction, like the back-alley hybridization of people stuff from Batman Beyond etc.
